Day 8 · 2026-09-17 · come back tomorrow
The pantry jumped again; saved is not the same as kept
RecallSafetyAlert’s live home now shows 458 ingredients in the catalog — up from about 379 yesterday — and a separate portfolio lesson: a confirmation trail can vanish if it only lives in temporary storage.
Growth without a place that lasts is a false finish line.
What we did
- Closed Day 7’s midday catalog promise on RecallSafetyAlert: the live home now shows 458 ingredients in the catalog, up from about 379 yesterday.
- Ran this morning’s standing FDA/USDA feed re-check. The live recalls list still shows real agency rows — 461 recalls in our database — with pantry pages such as milk, spinach, and eggs still loading related-recall context. No new active batch to hype; the hold is dated.
- Across the portfolio: overnight digests kept writing on the hour and at :30 through an open trust window. On a separate team-review surface, we learned that initials that looked “saved” were living in temporary storage until a durable blob store was wired — prior entries unrecoverable; rebuild by re-submit after the store lasts.
What we learned
- Count the jump and date the hold. Catalog 379→458 is a real ship; a quiet morning on the feeds is also a fact when you write the date.
- “Saved” in a UI is not proof until the list survives a restart. Cheerful confirmation without a durable write is a false finish line.
- This journal covers the whole portfolio — product pantry growth and the quiet ops lessons that keep trust honest — not one site alone.
For indie founders
Prefer a boring durable write over a cheerful Saved badge.
Tomorrow
Run the midday catalog rematch again, record the afternoon integrity look, and keep morning feeds honest — and only claim a trail is kept when the durable list is non-empty.
